Worship Minister Job Description

Position Summary

To further the mission of the Church by effectively creating a worship culture that glorifies God and builds the church community at Canoe Creek Christian Church.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Experience: Must be tried and proven in ministry and have a passion for developing new members to be fully devoted followers of Christ through worship, study, and service. Five years of ministry experience is preferred.
  2. Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Consideration will be given to candidates having experience and demonstrated proficiency in field.
  3. Knowledge, skills, and gifts: Here are some general and specific talents we regard for the Worship Leader.
    1. Effective Scheduler, organizer, and able to recruit and maintain volunteers.
    2. Sing, play an instrument, and lead all together.
    3. Able to communicate well while dealing with interpersonal relationships.
    4. Effective communicator and good verbal skills in worship.
    5. Good with computers, experience and proficiency that helps with productivity on any platform.
  4. Physical Demands:
    1. May be called upon for lifting, pulling, bending, carrying, and pushing as needed to set up activities and events.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Vision: Communicate weekly with senior leadership (lead pastor) to develop a close bond on the vision of the church, employ discipleship methods in the services, and be a part of shaping and growing the culture toward our stated vision through our Sunday worship services. (Songs, prayers, scripture readings, testimonials, etc…)
  2. Planning: work alongside of Senior minister to develop long-range plans and prepare themes and ideas for services and other events for effective organization and execution.
  3. Ministry Development: Identify, invite, mentor, and empower leaders to be a part of the Worship, Tech and Creative Teams. Creating goals and accountability that encourage music team and tech team to network, recruit and develop musicians, singers and tech team members (strive to be at least two deep in every position).
    1. Develop multiple worship leaders and musicians across multiple services. Including, Developing systems to create detailed scripts at least two weeks prior to the event date including musical, technical, video, and other program notes and assets.
    2. Team Development: Follow up with potential volunteers, scheduled new volunteer auditions and orientations, keep meetings to help develop individuals. Raise the bar.
  4. Technical: Responsible for developing the people, systems and deadlines related to the production of worship services and other potential ministry initiatives.
    1. A/V: overseeing the audio, lighting, and video technology for Canoe Creek including maintenance, programming and purchasing.
    2. Pro Presenter: Load the appropriate images, song sides (minus background images), and others to create entire PP service order to be sent for loading on the local computer.
  5. Manage Planning Center: Scheduling, Plans, Manage content and profiles, Manage song bank and song content, All aspects, etc…
  6. Communication: Establish and model an effective communication plan that employs love and respect for proper dialogue between stage, tech, worship leaders, volunteers, and senior leadership.
  7. Fiscal Maturity: Develop and manage the Worship and Tech Team budget. Ensure that financial procedures are followed in your department.
