Pastor of Family and Outreach Ministries

Christ Venice Methodist Church, Venice, Florida is seeking a full time pastor who can, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, develop a Family and Outreach Ministry comprehensive program. This will include reaching new families as well as equipping current families to live out our church’s vision of Becoming fully engaged followers of Christ by Belonging Together, Believing in Christ alone, and Blessing our world.

The ideal candidate for this position is a person who loves Christ, loves people, and has a passion to develop leaders, who is a visionary who can inspire and oversee the Family Ministries at Christ Venice Church and to develop Outreach Programs to help draw new families into the church. We believe that reaching and growing families to become fully engaged followers of Christ is our primary focus as a church. 

Christ Venice Methodist Church is a mid to large church located in a fast paced growing community in Southwest Florida’s Sarasota County. The area has excellent schools, arts and athletics in addition to beautiful beaches and attractions. A three bedroom parsonage with a den is available for housing. Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.

Overview of Responsibilities and Expectations

·      Oversee, organize, and lead the age-graded ministries of the church (Nursery through Young Adult) while serving as the assigned Pastor to our established and growing children, youth and families in the greater community. The family ministry pastor will also support and develop a Special Needs ministry to serve the individuals and families of this population.

·      Give supervision to the Children and Youth Ministry Directors to ensure that the children’s ministry is adequately serving the needs of Christ Venice Church.

·      Develop a strategy of ministry that attracts, retains, and disciples the families of Christ Venice Church.

·      Plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced Family Ministry in the areas of team building, worship, discipleship, missions, and evangelism (utilizing proven methods including camps, retreats, banquets, lock-ins, field trips, and other scheduled events), in collaboration with the Children and Youth Directors and the many volunteers.

·      Recruit, organize, and oversee a Volunteer Team to accomplish the objectives of the Family Ministry of CVC (Children’s ministry teachers, Student ministry teachers and leaders, event volunteers, weekly helpers, etc.)

·      Cultivate a ministry culture that encourages parent involvement in every facet of the ministry.

·      Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to family ministries

·      Annually develop and oversee the Family Ministry budget to use it effectively and wisely, utilizing church resources to maximize ministry opportunities.

·      Develop creative strategies to provide timely communication to the families and local community regarding what’s happening at CVC.

.      Plan and Lead Worship Services and Small Groups to engage and minster to children, youth and families.

.       Connect the Family and Outreach Ministry into the life of the church.

.      Other duties as assigned.

 MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support and partner with parents in the spiritual formation of their children, training and equipping them to have discussions with and to teach their children about God’s love for them, what it means to be a follower of Christ, and what it means to be part of a community of faith.

Develop strong servants and the leadership staff by implementing dynamic recruiting, training, motivating, and support systems that will in turn be able to equip young disciples for the service of Christ.

Work with and understand curriculums as needed to fit the vision and mission of Christ Venice Church.

Provide leadership for radical hospitality at all times throughout the ministry for new visitors as well as regular attendee children and families.

Promote growth through small group ministry for children, youth and families.

Create and deploy serving and mission experiences for children, youth and their families.

Create and nurture a safe sanctuary environment for children and their families where they experience the love of God most powerfully through the relationships they build with one another and with the larger community of faith.

BProvide visionary oversight and pastoral leadership to all aspects of the children, youth and family ministry of Christ Venice Church.

GENERAL PASTORAL DUTIES:

1. Preach multiple times per year as assigned by Lead Pastor 

2. Develop a community outreach to meet and recruit new families.

3. Plan and Participate in outreach events in the community 

4. Prepare and oversee ministry and department budgets. 

5. Attend and participate in Worship weekly

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

·      The candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Theology or a related field. Master’s Degree preferred.

·      At least 2 years of relevant ministry experience in a growing Family/ Outreach Ministry.

·      Cultivate an atmosphere of camaraderie and teamwork with everyone involved in the ministry.

·      Understand and promote the Theology, Doctrine and Polity of the Global Methodist Church.

·      Must possess a pattern of spiritual growth that is evidenced by a life of prayer, personal obedience to the Word of God, and the proven ability to discern the Lord’s will and guidance in decision making.

·      Must pass a background check and drug screening.

·      Must be willing and able to work weekends, holidays, and nights as required.
