Job Description:

Job Summary: This position is responsible for shared leadership of the LOPC youth ministry (5th through 12th grades) in partnership with the Director of Youth Ministries, Pastor for Family Ministries, the Family Ministries Team and other LOPC staff, and volunteers. This position will work with the Director of Youth Ministries to develop ministry programs for LOPC youth.

The LOPC youth programs focus on loving, guiding, and empowering youth to grow in faith and serve as followers of Christ. This is achieved through connections with other youth and adult leaders, service through faith-based service-learning, and participation in meaningful worship. This position is a model of the commitment to the core values of LOPC and its mission.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  1. Work with the Director of Youth Ministry in planning and executing youth ministry events, leading volunteers, providing pastoral care to youth and families, teaching, and performing administrative duties. Will have flexibility and ownership in planning various activities.
  2. Provide supportive leadership for middle school YOW youth group (Wednesday evenings) and high school BTW youth group (Sunday evenings), special events and family worship services.
  3. Plan, coordinate and oversee the Sunday school Youth Alive program (5 th – 8 th grade).
  4. Lead the Service Squad summer service camp program (5 th & 6 th grade) and various service-learning days during the school year.
  5. Take an active leadership role in both the middle school and high school summer service-learning trips.
  6. Perform youth ministry related administrative duties including but not restricted to; maintaining database attendance and profile information, generating reports, creating online registration forms, assisting with official communications, managing website content, assisting in scheduling events, maintaining social media accounts and preparing work orders.

Expectations:

  1. Attend and exhibit leadership within all youth ministry related programming.
  2. Keep office hours during the week, attend staff and pertinent committee meetings.
  3. Maintain a personal devotional practice.
  4. Develop faith-sharing and faith-building relationships with youth and their families.
  5. Assist as a liturgist in various Sunday morning worship services.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Previous experience of at least two years in youth or children’s ministry required.
Skills: Skilled at working and communicating with youth and families to build pastoral relationships with them. Willingness to learn website content and social media management, and various database platforms.
