Liaison With: Program Staff, Volunteers, and Church Executive Secretary

Full-Time Position: 40 hours per week

Salary: $65,000/year, two (2) weeks paid vacation each year with more vacation weeks after five (5) years, and performance bonus’ annually.

Start date 8-1-2024

Church Overview:

Sunnyslope Christian Center is a Spirit-Led, Holy Spirit driven Assembly of God church with a multi-generational and multi-ethnic congregation of 450-500 and growing. We believe in a supernatural move of God and desire a pastor who is ready to lead our youth and young adults into the presence of God! We are running approximately 40 youth a week and many young adults during their Thursday night services. We are poised for amazing growth. We have a great vision for our Youth and Young Adults’ Ministry and have just completed a 500k renovation of our Youth Chapel which seats approximately 200 youth. This renovation includes a new 8x12 foot LED screen, all new sound/video system, and new lighting ready for use.  We are looking for the right pastor who desires to work with an awesome team and that has great vision to take our youth and young adult ministries to the next level.

 

Job Summary:

Lead the Sunnyslope Christian Center Youth and Young Adult teams in creating environments, events, and experiences that connect teenagers and young adults to God, each other, and to leaders. Plan, prepare for, supervise, and lead weekly Youth and Young Adult ministry programs.

 

Some Key Responsibilities:

·         Coordinate and facilitate all ministries with youth and young adults including regular group meetings, Sunday School, Bible Study, mentoring, worship/spiritual formation, and youth mission/serving opportunities.

·         Provide care for youth, young adults, and their families within the church, including hospital visits.

·         Plan and oversee special events such as the youth portion of the annual Christmas program.

·         Assist children’s pastor with coordinating classes (10–12-year-olds) as a conduit for the youth program growth.

·         Support and Care for Youth and Young Adult Volunteer Teams

    • Identify and recruit high-capacity leaders.
    • Equip, train, and empower leaders to own a role.
    • Continually encourage, motivate, and care for leaders.

·         Submit monthly reports for this department to the Deacon Board.

·         Attend bi-weekly staff meetings (every 2nd and 4th Thursday)

·         Attend Pastoral staff mentoring scheduled by the Senior Pastor.

·         Attend Tuesday prayer sessions at either 5am, 12pm, or 5pm, your choice.

·         Attend Saturday night prayer, a minimum of twice a month.

·         Assist  the Senior Pastor with Sunday Services when called upon. 

 

 

Fun Responsibilities:

·         Plan at least one (1) special event with the youth once a month, i.e. game night, grad night, etc.

·         Plan at least one (1) special event with the young adults, once a quarter. This can be planned on a Thursday night but can be planned on another night as well.

·         Support all SCC ministry events by personally helping and leading a youth/young adult team in serving at these events, i.e. Senior Salt annual banquet, Missions Convention, Easter, July 4th, and VBS.

·         Has an aptitude for building relationships, creating vision, and connecting with diverse communities

·         Is willing to help when and where needs arise.

 

You Are Our Ideal Candidate if You:

·         Have the ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

·         Have knowledge of electronic media and experience with social media.

·         Have excellent written and verbal skills.

·         Have experience in conflict resolution and management.

 

 

Educational Requirements

·         Complete requirements for certified ministers with the Assembly of God within twelve (12) months of hire.

·         Have training in the area of Youth and/or Young Adults Ministry for a minimum of 2 years of experience.

·         Mandated Reporter Training every two (2) years.

 

Term of Office

Term of office shall be determined by the Senior Pastor and the Deacon Board.

Termination shall be the prerogative of the Senior Pastor.
