First Baptist Church of Fairbury, Illinois is located in a rural central Illinois community. Our current church size is an average of 475 weekly attendees with a youth group that averages around 40 students. We believe we were not only conveniently, but divinely placed right next door to our community’s high school. We desire to use this proximity to create relationships and open doors for gospel work to take place in the lives of not only the students but entire families and for God’s kingdom to grow. We deeply value our youth and the energy and passion they bring us, and we see them as part of the family and the future of our church. Because this next generation is precious and valuable to us, we focus on creating an environment and outreach ministries where youth matter.
The purpose of this position is to make disciples of Jesus among our youth; to partner with their families in teaching them to know, love, and share Jesus and help them flourish as they grow to become devoted Christ followers. The youth pastor will plan, implement, and oversee a ministry strategy which presents Jesus as the only way of salvation and the only sure source of meaning and purpose in life.
Experience in youth ministry and/or education in youth ministry or theological training is desired. This is a full-time position and will operate under the guidance of the Senior Pastor.

FBC of Fairbury exists…
To introduce people to Believe in Jesus, to Love Jesus, and to Share Jesus with others!
That is why we meet every Sunday as a congregation. It’s why we have programs like AWANA, UPWARD, and youth groups for the kids. It’s where we are going and why we continue to share the gospel each and every week. We want to introduce people to come into a relationship with the Risen King Jesus through faith! We want people to develop a love for Christ that satisfies their souls deeply. And we want to equip our people to carry the powerful good news of Jesus Christ with them at all times.
Here are 5 Core Values we believe help us achieve these goals.
We Trust in the Authority of God’s Word
We believe the Bible is our source of faith and practice. We believe it is breathed out by God and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16) We believe it is living and active (Hebrews 4:12) and will change your life for the better if you put your trust in it.
We Talk with God in Prayer
Prayer is as essential to our spirit as breathing is to our body. We were created for a relationship with our Heavenly Father and prayer is an essential part of every relationship with Christ. God calls us to pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17), with all kinds of prayers and requests to help us stand firm against temptation. (Ephesians 6:16-18)
We Believe All People Matter to God
Jesus made it clear that he wanted his disciple to go into all the world and make disciples. (Matthew 28:16-20) Jesus cared about the Samaritan woman despite her low social status and sinful lifestyle. (John 4) We believe that loving Jesus means loving the least of these. (Matthew 25:40)
We Devote Ourselves to one another in Fellowship and Unity
The early Christians used to meet together for prayer, communion, and worship with thankful hearts to God. They cared for each other’s needs and devoted themselves to obeying the apostles teaching and fellowship and the breaking of bread. In response the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-47) We believe God wants that type of community for us today.
We Worship with Joy
We believe worship is giving of every part of our lives as a living sacrifice to God in response to His great mercy. (Romans 12:1) And that God wants us to worship him out of our love for him and not because we have to. (Matthew 15:8-9) So we come with thankful hearts to worship our savior with Joy.
